Always No.2, Never No.1

In an ideal world for Andy Murray, he would have  been on Wimbledon’s Centre Court playing Roger Federer.

I would so rather be here than on centre court

Instead the 22-year-old British number one had to content himself with a spin round the go-kart track.

Ag shame… Now wonder where his hair-cutting girlfriend was. Maybe she was too busy eying out Roger’s do.

And just as Murray was edged out in the semi-finals at the All England club, his best position on the track was second.

Murray – who does not yet have a driving licence but has said he plans to start soon – whizzed round the circuit with friends at a track near his new home in Surrey.

Murray announced his trip to the circuit on the Twitter website – and also denounced a story that he broke all his racquets on losing.

He wrote: ‘on way to go karting!!one of friends asked if I broke all my rackets said he read it more lies!!

What was that about No2?

Murray is a keen go-karter – and often heads for the tracks before major tournaments wherever he plays in the world.

Wonder if it takes the edge off? Personally I would’ve gone for a few pints, or shots, but racing around in a tiny car is so much healthier…
